Theme Party Food and Menu Ideas
To start planning for your magical Harry Potter theme party you will need to start by deciding what you would like to serve at the party. Here you will find some menu ideas with recipes for your convience. Also at this time you will want to decide if you would like to order a cake from a bakery or make a cake and add your own decorations. If you have a Walmart in your area then I have a tip for you. Most of the Walmart bakeries that I have been to will sell you theme cake topper kit for $5. If you do not have a Walmart close by or they do not sell them then another good tip is to head to the toy department and find theme action figures to top your cake. I would start planning the menu at least a week a head of time. The menu ideas I have included are quick and easy to do. No one wants to spend the day of the party in the kitchen.

And of course don't forget the Harry Potter cake and Ice Cream.
Decoration Ideas for the Yule Ball

Room Decorations
To create the look and feel of the yule ball start by draping the room in silver gossmar material.
Hang the small snowflakes from the ceiling and a mistletoe in the doorway of the enterance.
Add items from the winter wonderland kit around the room.
And in the doorway of your party room hang the snowflake columns for a grand enterance to your party.
Your party room will look like a yule ball in no time.
Table Decorations
Cover the table in a silver or blue tablecover. Display your cake in the center of the table and your food on plastic clear or silver platters. Sticking with the silver and blue theme for the ball use silver plates and blue napkins, forks, spoons and knives. Otherwise use the "Let it Snow" partyware.
I could not find any Harry Potter silver and blue party plates however if you would like you can use the theme party plates and just decorate around those colors instead. The sky is the limit so let your imagination run.
Another ideas is just to use the cake plates from one of the Harry Potter collections that may have silver or blue in it to tie in the theme if you would like.
There you have it a dramatic setting in a short amount of time.
Harry Potter Party Games
The game plan takes the guess work out of searching the internet for theme party games to keep your guests busy. Each guest will complete three grueling tasks to find out which one's will be the "Triwizard Tournament" winners!
Materials for the games: 1 rope long enough for each player to have their hand on it. (Make sure it is not to long) (Task 1) 5 bowls (Task 1) 2 glasses (Task 1) Troll blood (red cabbage and vinegar blended) (Task 1) Flobberworm Slime (dishsoap) (Task 1) Powdered Root of Asphodel (flour and cinnamon) (Task 1) Ground Unicorn horn (baking soda and glitter) (Task 1) Beetle Eyes (poppy seeds) (Task 1) 6 index cards (Task 1) 2 large tubs (Task 2) 2 bags of sand (home improvement store) (Task 2) small toys and coins (Task 2) 2 colored stones from a craft store (Task 2) large foam from a craft store or colored construction paper (Task 3) 2 notebooks 2 Black Marker (Task 3) Large plastic goblet (Task 3)
Game Plan
Task 1 (Forbidden Forest)
Task 1 Instructions
truth serum poem
Snape's Potions Closet
Once the teams find the eggs they will need to open them to read the clue to figure out the second part of the task which is Snape's Potion Closet. Each of the teams will need to put the ingredients together to make it fizz. Keep track of which teams potion fizzes first.
Task 2 (The Lake)
Task 2 Instructions
Once the teams are done you can share with them that the last and final task is the enchanted maze. Keep track of which team completed the second task first. Both teams will start the final task together. The team or teams that finished first in the first two tasks get a head start through the maze. One win = one game space. So if each of the teams won one of the tasks then they both start on the second game space. The first team to answer 15 trivia questions correct will be the "Triwizard Tournament" winners!
Task 3 (Enchanted Maze)
HP Trivia
Good Luck and Have Fun!
